the bayou is drenched with fog and light. power reaches into the very grain of the tourist, touching her body and inserting itself into her actions and attitudes, her discourses, learning processes and everyday life. angola prison is wedded to the experience of looking, creating a sense of its permanence as an institution. this work offers a spatialized meditation on incarceration and its place in the american imagination.
