sf camerawork, san francisco, 2016

where larkspur once grew freely (a funeral for the sixth street viaduct)

remnants from a site-specific performance including archival photograph, larkspur and chromogenic print

this gathering considered how photographers have responded to transformations in the global landscape through new ideas about the function of photographic media. how can novel visual practices disrupt traditional narratives of spatial representation? in what ways do artists respond to the historical contribution of their medium in perpetuating these same narratives? and in what ways do contemporary technologies impact interactions with the land? zones of representation was presented in collaboration with sf camerawork and co-sponsored by the northern california art historians.
